When you can’t even remember the last time you worked out, even the idea of running may seem impossible but there are several training routes that can turn even the worst couch potato into a runner. And remember – running is not just about getting some exercise done. It allows you to get some fresh air (if you’re doing it outside, that is), pushes you to bring back self-discipline into your life, and, most of all, gives you a sense of accomplishment at the end of each run.
C25K is an easy-to-use, free app that gets you from the couch to running 5K in 8 weeks. All you have to do is follow the 30-40 minute routine 3 times a week and you’ll be amazed with the results at the end.
This 8-week program by Runner’s World is similar to the C25K. The main difference is that their routine involves training 6 days of the week, with 2 dedicated to walking and 4 dedicated to running. This may be a better option for those who have more time in their hands and want to get more active quickly.
